Kids In the House Videos

Kids In the House considers itself “the ultimate parenting resource”, and they’re pretty much spot on.  They offer videos on countless issues that could effect children that feature some of the top experts in the field.  They have a total of 217 videos on child obesity alone.  Check them out!

Dr. John Ratey’s Videos

Dr. Ratey is a clinical psychiatrist and a psychiatry professor at Harvard University.  His specialties include ADHD, autism, and other neuropsychiatry issues.  Because of this, he is an expert on the benefits of exercise for children on a large spectrum.  His videos are also featured on the Kids In the House website.  Watch his videos to find out what he recommends and what benefits exercising brings!

NAEYC Prevention Resource

The NAEYC is the National Association for the Education of Young Children and is the world’s largest organization working on behalf of young children.  Their page on child obesity houses countless links to facts and information about the issue as well as prevention and tips to healthier lifestyle.

Food and Nutrition

The food and nutrition source comes from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  They teach you how to feed your child healthy meals and develop healthy diet habits for kids of any age.  It’s a great place to check out before you go to the grocery store to prepare for a healthy meal!

Kids Health

Kids Health is a great resource for parents and kids of all ages.  The page the link takes you to is their “Overweight and Obese” page.  Listed there is a collection of facts about (get this) overweight and obesity!  At the bottom there are three tabs for parents, kids, and teens.  Each tab is designed to get kids interested in diet and exercise, and to learn what they need to do to take care of their bodies.  It’s definitely one of the best resources out there for parents AND kids!

Cosmic Kids Yoga

Cosmic Kids Yoga is run by a lady named Jaime who lives right outside of London.  She teaches adult yoga as well as kids and has been making the Cosmic Kids videos since May of 2012.  Jaime’s videos will take kids on an adventure of yoga poses for that are sure to keep them entertained and interested in doing the exercises.  Try some out with your kids!

Let’s Move!

Let’s Move! was launched by Michelle Obama on February 9, 2010.  Their main goal is to provide healthier food for kids in schools.  They also provide information to help make sure families have access to healthy foods and to help kids become more physically active.  Find out what you can do to become healthier as a family!

NFL Play 60

NFL Play 60 is the NFL’s campaign to fight child obesity.  They do this by encouraging kids to get 60 minutes of physical activity everyday, hence the “play 60″.  They take actions by integrating football players into communities and schools to inspire kids to exercise.  Learn how you can get involved!

OAC’s Kids Corner

The OAC is the Obesity Action Coalition.  Their Kids Corner features articles specifically for kids and their parents.  There are also articles designed for teens, such as how to be healthy during your first year in college.  The corner has links to articles that were previously featured in the Your Weight Matters magazine.
